Reggie Dabbs Inspires Students
"You can never change your past, but you can change your future.” These were the words of Reggie Dabbs, a popular public school speaker who came to speak at the Citadel this month for both school assemblies and a special community performance in the evening. Throughout the day, students gathered in the gym with excitement to hear this man’s amazing life story.
With his charm and funny style, Reggie Dabbs taught students about the choices they have. He talked about choices that students will face when it comes to drugs, suicide, alcohol, and many other relevant issues. Reggie shared his belief that everyone can make the right choices in life.
Reggie Dabbs did not only teach students about choices, but he also played the saxophone! For our school, the song he chose was Justin Bieber’s Baby. Most students were thoroughly amused and sang along with him.
Our students have to deal with many issues like gangs, drugs, violence, and teen pregnancy every day. Reggie Dabbs is quickly becoming one of the most in-demand motivational speakers because he understands these issues and he helps teenagers meet their problems head-on to overcome them.
Reggie Dabbs was able to reach a lot of our students with his energetic and fun personality, as well as his ability to relate to the hardships our students have faced. Ashley A. commented, “He was a lot of fun, but he also could relate to the hard stuff in our lives that we all go through.” There are some speakers with great stories, and some speakers that are very entertaining. Reggie Dabbs was both. Many students here at the Reading Intermediate High School are already demanding another visit.
